Townsville Incl.Power Boat Event
20th &21st June
Townsville really does shine on race day. Every race the club has held in Townsville has turned out perfect weather and the Offshore Power Boat weekend was to be no exception. For the first time the NQOSSA was invited to host a ski race event in conjunction with the Australian Power Boat Racing Series. The format was 4 Class ski races on Saturday and 1 Open ski race on the Sunday followed by the Power boat race.
First event of the day for Saturday was Juniors. Massive congratulations to our Juniors. We really need to dig up some sponsorship so we can start awarding these kids for there effort. They are the future of our sport.
Race of the weekend would have to go to our Novice class as Linda Ford and Therese Lamont flew across the finish line in 1st and 2nd with Ben Serra 3rd.
B Grade Mens race was next and three laps were enough to make them whinge!!! Glenn seems to be skiing better in his old age and beat Chook to claim 1st place. Wayne Lamont 2nd and Alex Vasta 3rd behind Fired Up.
Open was the last race of Saturday and it was Mark Weavers race all the way. Anthony Greenwood skied brilliantly behind Stealth which cut and dodged its way into 2nd. 3rd was Greg Hounsell racing behind his new boat Miss Behave.
Sundays Open race and Mark Weaver took 1st in much the same style as he did the day before. Greg Hounsell moved up a place to 2nd. And our own Club President Charlie Waller with a well earned 3rd place. Finally beating the MRS!!!
Sunday
afternoon was time for the Power Boat race. 5 NQOSSA boats went out to race and the rest of us went out on course to watch. I must say-WoW these guys can drive!!! Very impressive Mr. Weaver…and Boat Scene… I have a new appreciation for 20ft Cyclone

Most Outstanding performance of the weekend went to Charlie Waller-3rd place in Sundays Open ski race. And Team- Boat Scene for there winning results all weekend.
